the gras has begun

it began with a very chilly new orleans night, full of costuming, riding the streets on bicycle, and catching the krewe du vieux in the quarter and marigny. i took it all home and put it on paper in the form of this little messy collage. i'm looking forward to the rest of the season. king cake, vintage beads, costumes, revelry. isn't this city amazing?

cold day, warm friend

It's so cold and rainy in new orleans today! but I have my favorite new friendly owl and beautiful netty cowl to keep me warm! Both lovely items handmade by friend and fellow blogger and Etsy seller Rosetung. Thank you Jelly! I love my owl friend with his big eyes, tiny little feet and sweet wings. My neck is loving the gentle embrace of this crocheted cowl, so beautiful with my new red coat!
Nab something from Rosetung's shop while you can! You won't regret it. :)

Invention

For those who know me, they know my hobby for inventing new things for everyday life. I rarely actually make these things, I just think of them, and put them out there in the collective consciousness and usually someone else eventually produces it. SO... I have decided to start posting my invention ideas here on my blog, just for the sharing. And if anyone gets inspired and wants to cut me a check... by all means. :)

Today's Invention:

I think there should be an all-in-one washer/dryer unit. I, for one, find it frustrating to have to switch the clothes from the washer to the dryer. This inevitably causes scheduling conflicts for me, trying to be available when the clothes need switching, so that they don't mildew, etc.
However, IF there was an all-in-one unit, no one would have this problem! :) It could either be attached, with a mechanism that moves the clothes over, or it could all be the same machine. You should be able to set the setting for each function at the start of washing, and then be able to leave the clothes unattended, trusting they will be clean and dry upon your return. Maybe it could even dump the clothes out into a basket to promote the "prompt removal" so often requested on clothing tags?? heh?

signing off.
to go to the studio. and NOT wash clothes.
